What Are Veneers?
Dental veneers are a thin shell of material that is placed over your tooth to alter its appearance. Veneers can be made of a variety of materials:
- Porcelain
- Composite material
- eMax
- Empress
The type of veneer material used will depend on your goals for your smile, the issue you want to resolve, the structure of your face, the position of your lips and the proportions of your teeth. That’s why veneers require a dentist like Dr. Garcia who combines experience, skill and artistry.
What Can You Correct with Veneers?
Veneers are used to correct a number of different dental issues, including:
- Yellowed and discolored teeth
- Worn enamel
- Uneven teeth
- Wear and tear
- Rotated and crooked teeth
Veneers will give your teeth a white, polished and uniform look!
What are the Benefits of Veneers?
Besides giving you a beautiful, uniform smile that will last for years, veneers can also be used to protect a damage tooth from further damage. That means there’s a good chance you won’t have to worry about further (possibly more invasive) dental procedures down the road. And unlike some other types of cosmetic dentistry, placing veneers requires very little alteration to the tooth structure. They are also maintained very much like regular teeth!
What is the Veneer Process?
The goal of veneers is to correct your smile in the most natural-looking way. That’s why Dr. Garcia will use his experience and artistry to match the type of material to your specific teeth, smile and face.Every individual has different needs, and so the veneer process will be modified, but the basic process is similar:
- An impression will be taken of your teeth which will be sent to a lab
- The lab will create a template for your temporary veneers
- During your second appointment, Dr. Garcia will prepare your teeth and cement the temporary veneers on
- When your permanent veneers are ready, you’ll come back to our office. Dr. Garcia will remove the temporary veneers and bond the permanent veneers into place
- Dr. Garcia will adjust your bite, then shape and polish the veneers so they look natural and absolutely beautiful!
Veneers typically last for 20 years without chipping or yellowing, so you will have your beautifully crafted smile for years to come!
